The Hobbit collector's edition with a Hidden Fore Edge Painting on the page edges

This book has been specially painted to produce a hidden fore edge effect on the painting of Smaug and Bilbo.
While the book is closed, the painting is concealed by a golden gilded edge (by way of liquidgold leaf). When the pages are fanned, you see the watercolor painting. It is quite magical. The vibrancy of the painting color is a bit less intense as the gold leaf sparkling distracts from the depth of colors in the painting. See 1st few photos.
There is an option to order this book without the golden edge to hide the painting while it is closed. This option is title "Exposed Edge" and is less expensive as the Gilded edging process is rigorous and time consuming. The painting looks more vibrant this way, as seen in the last photo, but you lose the magic of the hidden fore edge. So it's a trade off.
The book has the option of new end pages with a tree pattern to make it even more special.
Here you will find the book signed by the painter. If you'd rather omit the upgraded end pages, just let me know and I'll keep the original ones.

It includes illustrations by the author inside.
